Buying A Tent? Read The Coleman Evanston 8 Screened Tent Review Before You Buy A Tent
Camping is a great way to relax and enjoy yourself even more then what you think. This is when you may want to know more information about some of the tents which are available for you to buy. Granted, with all the tents on the market now it is very confusing on which model and type is the best one for your needs.
I know for me walking into the local box store I can find five different types of tents, then looking online I will find another two hundred models. The choice is absolutely astounding and good, because of the variety, but you should make sure you have some information about each model before you select the best one for your needs. This is why I decided to start researching all the different tent models which are available and sharing the information I find out about them with everyone. Here is what I found by looking at the Coleman Evanston 8 screened tent and I decided to share this in the Coleman Evanston 8 screened tent review.

This tent can be fully covered on the roof, or you can “peel” back tent areas to reveal screened areas that allow in more sunlight and ventilation.

It averages 4.4 stars out of a 5 star rating, so you know this tent is a great choice for camping. It easily transports in the trunk of your car, too.
Make sure you get this Coleman 8 screened tent before your next camping trip!
Why The Coleman Evanston 8 Screened Tent?
You may be asking yourself why you should be choosing the Coleman Evanston 8 Screened tent over the other models available. Well, the short answer is you will be getting a tent coming from a reliable manufacturer who has experience with camping gear. I mean seriously who has not heard of Coleman in some manner, even if you have never been camping before, you have probably heard of Coleman before. So you do not have to be concerned about the brand not being one which is reliable or never been tested out before. Then you can start to head out into the woods and know your tent will not fail you when you are in the middle of nowhere.
Something else you will like with the tent is the fact this is going to allow you to sleep eight people in the tent. Even if your family is only four, you will want to make sure you use a larger tent. I have been tent camping before and it was a family of four tent, but we were all sleeping on top of each other and did not really have any room to turn around in. So you can easily enjoy the larger tent and know you will have the personal space you need in the tent, unless your family is larger then the capacity.
Small space the Evanston takes up is something else you will enjoy seeing as well. With all the talk about leaving as small a footprint in the woods as possible any tent will take up space. With the size of this tent you would think it would leave a huge space. However, you need to realize this tent is going to take up only a twelve by twelve space. So you are not going to have a lot of space taken up in the woods or if you are like me have a little bit of space to clear for your tent floor.
Hinged doors on a tent is something you may have never thought about using before. However, it is one of the most usable things you can find and manage to get your tent closed up quickly if rain is coming and have it zipped up in the proper manner to keep the water out.
Privacy when you are tent camping can be hard to get and even with the best tents they are almost always shadow producers. With the Coleman Evanston, it has large flaps which comes down the sides to cover up the shadow producing areas. So you can easily change in the tent and not have to be concerned about everyone outside of your tent knowing what is under your clothes!
Variflo system is something which you will want to see as well. When you can see this type of system you can easily adjust the rate and flow of the air which is coming into your tent. So if it is chilly outside you can easily close down the vent flaps some to reduce the air flow, but you will also have the opposite available to you if you need it for letting more air in during the summer months.
Weather can be a terrible thing to cope with when you are camping. However, when the camping trips are being taken in a tent the weather is even worse and trying on you. This is when you should realize Coleman has come up with a specific system they call the WeatherTec System. The system is designed to keep you dry during the rain storms and has been known to work really well, compared to the old tents that led to touching the tent and getting soaked.
Overall these are great options which you can use with the Coleman Evanston 8 tent. However, you are going to get to use these when you are camping and some of these features are present in the other tents, but you will not find all of the same features in each tent and this can be a good thing because you can easily find the tent which suits your needs best.
Disadvantages of The Coleman Evanston 8 Screened Tent
As with any review you will want to know about any of the drawbacks as well. To this end I did have to do some digging to provide you with a complete Coleman Evanston 8 tent review with drawbacks, but I did find a couple. These are some which I found and I am pulling out the highlights of the negatives and something which I think you would want to know about. I know for me it would help me make a decision on if this is the proper tent for me and my family or if I should keep on looking to a different tent to complete my camping trip with.
A major drawback which I read about is the actual usable space. Yes, the tent floor is a twelve by twelve space. However, the sides of the tent are, well tapered up to the dome. Since they are tapered you will find they are going to start coming into the middle rather quickly and this can easily take away from your usable space and this is really true if you plan on sleeping in cots inside of the tent. In fact one person reported the usable space in this case was reduced down to nine and a half feet at twenty inches tall. So you may have to take this into consideration, but it would provide you with more storage space which is something you probably want to have in your tent.
The same person who reported this also noted that the seams towards the bottom of the tent when they become saturated in water of about an inch per hour, this guy was hard on the tent in the first day with a sprinkler system, does start to get wet. So if you plan on traveling to an area that is expected to get over an inch of rain per hour then you may end up getting wet. However, most of the time if you are traveling in this kind of weather almost anything will start to get wet. Heck, my houses basement that I live in when it is raining this hard starts to get wet.
Number of people to put the tent up is something else which some people complained about in their reviews. One person said you would need at least two people to put the tent up properly and quickly. This is something I could see and I have to agree putting a tent up by yourself is a pain. Let alone putting up a tent like the Coleman Evanston 8 Tent which is meant to hold eight people.
Coleman Evanston 8 VS Coleman Evanston 6 Tent
The Coleman Evanston 6 Screened Tent offers the same features as the Coleman Evanston 8 Screened Tent, but is slightly smaller, and sleeps 6 rather than 8. It measure 14′ x 10′ with a 68″ center height.
If your family is slightly smaller, or if your camping trip isn’t too long, then you might want to consider this Coleman tent. It is still a great choice for families and/or scout masters.
You will enjoy the 4 screened windows, large screened porch area, and other roof screens that can be covered by tent material when it rains, or at bedtime. This tent will keep out the bugs, while giving you ample ventilation and light!
You will love the convenience of assembling and taking down this tent, and the ease of transporting it, as well.
You can’t go wrong with any Coleman product. They have been a recognized name in good standing for many years, and their products are dependable, durable and loved by many!
One idea for this tent is to place it in your backyard, and have a family fun night “camping” in your own yard, with the convenience of your home facilities within easy access. Kids love camping, so if you don’t have the time or the finances to camp at a campground, consider offering your children the fun of backyard camping!
This Coleman Evanston 6 Screened Tent (full review Coleman Evanston 6 Screened Tent here!) is guaranteed to keep you dry, while enjoying the great outdoors in comfort and style. You’re going to really like this Coleman 6 tent!
Is The Coleman Evanston 8 Tent For Me
You may be asking yourself now if the Coleman Evanston 8 screened tent is for me and this is a great question. However, you are going to want to know when you would want to use this tent. Obviously the tent would work for setting up in the backyard for your kids, but to be honest with you I would select a much smaller tent to get the backyard camping adventure for your kids. Something else you probably would not want to use the Coleman Evanston for is when you have to backpack into your site, because of the twenty five pound weight.
The best time you would want to use the Coleman Evanston 8 screened tent would be if you are camping in a campground for an extended period of time, taking a family camping trip, going out with the scouts, or even wanting to go out with friends for the weekend without everyone having to bring their own tent. You definitely should be considering this when you are looking at the tents and determine what kind of needs you have. By doing this you may find the Coleman Evanston 8 screened tent is great for you and your family, but you may also notice you are going to find some different tents will suit your needs better.
